3D Printing Form

Patron requesting 3D prints acknowledges items produced in Fab Lab are prototypes that have not been tested in any way for safety, durability, etc.  Patron is taking sole responsibility and assuming all risks with usage of the items created in this lab.


Proper Use

  1. All equipment is available for use by TCU students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Please check in with the FabLab supervisor or staff member when entering the lab.
  3. All patrons must comply with TCU Network and Computer Usage Policy at all times.
  4. All 3D printers will be available on a “first-come first-served” basis. Approval to operate equipment must be obtained prior to use.
  5. Lab supervisor or staff member will provide brief training before you’ll be allowed to use the equipment.
  6. Please follow all instructions and directions given by TCU library staff members. Failure to do so may result in dismissal from the lab.
  7. Food and beverages are not permitted near the equipment.
  8. Failure to operate the equipment safely and as directed by staff will result in a loss of access to the equipment.

Pickup Procedure and Other Information

  1. Items can only be picked up by the individual who printed them. (Must show I.D.)
  2. TCU library staff members will notify the requester by email once the item has been printed and is ready for pickup. Items not picked up within 14 days will become property of the library.
  3. The TCU library cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, privacy of the design, or a specific time of completion.

Prohibited Uses

  1. Items printed on the library’s 3D printer must be produced for lawful purposes. The 3D printer may not be used to create material that is:
    1. Prohibited by local, state or federal law. 
    2. No firearms or other weapon-related objects may be created using the 3D printers. 
    3. In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
    4. Patrons are allowed to use the TCU logo for personal or class use, but must adhere to the brand standards
  2. TCU library staff members reserve the right to refuse any 3D print request.

All students must comply with the Student Code of Conduct listed in the Student Handbook.

Currently all 3D printing materials will be provided free by the TCU library.

TCU Library will collect personal data included on this form for statistical purposes, but will not sell or distribute the information to 3rd parties. Information gathered may be used for marketing purposes.
